An expert in his field, Wael Al-Mazeedi knows that district cooling has an edge over traditional air conditioning solutions. District cooling is available in many urban areas, and beats out standard AC in terms of price, space, noise, and pollution. The system works by super cooling water in a plant, then piping that water through insulated tubes and into the building. In the building, a small quiet unit simply forces air past the pipes, providing cheap and effective air conditioning. This is the kind of edge that led BTU Group to purchase 1.77 million shares of Tabreed, a district cooling company.

Tabreed’s business model is robust and adheres to that of typical utility businesses in the US, Europe, and Japan” explained Wael Al-Mazeedi, BTU’s CEO. He continued, “Tabreed’s management is world-class, its brand name is recognized throughout the region, and its future growth prospects both domestically and regionally are tremendous. We are confident that Tabreed will realize its true potential as the local and regional investor and investment banking communities gradually develop a better appreciation for its business model.”

Wael Al-Mazeedi said that the company currently has 22 plants located in urban areas of the UAE. This puts Tabreed in a prime position for growth in UAE and nearby areas. The huge advantage district cooling presents over the competition has excited BTU and other shareholders.
